The National Mission on Power Electronics Technology (NaMPET) Phase - II is an initiative of the Department of Electronics & Information Technology, Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (DeitY), Government of India. Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (CDAC), Thiruvananthapuram is the Nodal Centre for NaMPET. One of the aims of NaMPET Phase-II is to foster the growth of Power Electronics activity in academic institutions in the country.

Student Project Awards (PG & UG)

As an encouragement to students engaged in final year project work in Power Electronics/Power Systems,NaMPET has constituted Project Awards.

  • Postgraduate (PG) Project Awards: Two awards are available for postgraduate M.E/ M.Tech students for their project thesis. Each award will carry merit certificate and cash prize of Rs. 50,000/-.
  • Undergraduate (UG) Project Awards: Two awards are available for undergraduate B.E/B.Tech students for their project thesis. Each award will carry merit certificate and cash prize of Rs.25,000/-.

This advertisement calls for applications from students who have completed and submitted their final year project thesis during the period 1st October 2015 - 10th July 2016.

Award Rules

  • Awards are open to UG and PG students who have done their final year project in the area of Power Electronics/ Power Systems.
  • UG/PG Students in AICTE recognized engineering institutions, NITs, IITs, IISc and Central Universities which has course in Power Electronics/ Power Systems at PG level are eligible.
  • Applications from students who have completed and submitted their final project thesis during the period 1st October 2015 - 10th July 2016 are invited.
  • A PDF copy of the thesis (file size less than 10MB) needs to be submitted online through www.nampet.in.
  • Online submission starts from 1st May 2016 and ends on 15th August 2016. Submission not in PDF format will not be accepted.
  • Students need to submit the following documents by post :
  • A letter certifying the title, authorship and acceptance date of the thesis and signed by the Project Guide and Head of Department, on institution’s letter head
  • One Hard copy of Project Report
  • A Curriculam Vitae as per the format (Download Format)
  • Last date of receipt of the above documents is on 31st August 2016
  • Documents are Send to “The Nodal Officer, NaMPET Phase-II, Power Electronics Group, Centre for Development of Advanced Computing, Vellayambalam, Trivandrum- 695033, Kerala, India".

  • Electronic thesis files for which we do not receive hard copy of the original letters,Project thesis,Curriculam Vitae as given above will not be considered for the awards
  • Award winners will be informed by post/email. Award winners will have to present their work at a NaMPET sponsored event as decided by the Awards Committee.
  • In case the project and thesis are done by several students as a team, the award will be shared equally by all students whose names appear on the thesis.
  • The decision of the Awards Committee will be final. No query will be entertained regarding the evaluation status or the Committee’s decision.
  • TA / DA for award winners : For students 3T AC Train fare and DA at par with Scientist B in CDAC will be reimbursed and accommodation will be arranged by the Nodal Centre (CDAC Trivandrum).
  • Postgraduate (PG) Project Awards: Publications in Journals & Conference, Patent initiatives, ToT initiatives, developing new experiments, Consultancy etc. if any, may be given additional weightage.
  • Undergraduate (UG)Project Awards: Product development, Publications, Presentations in seminars/workshop, developing new experiments and project marks etc. if any, may be given additional weightage.
  • Any changes in date, time and award rules will be notified through website www.nampet.in. and there will not be any individual communications.
  • Award committee reserves the right to modify/withdraw the awards, award rules, date of submission, publication of results, date and venue of presentation by the awardees etc.

Research Award for PhD

As an encouragement to students engaged in research work in Power Electronics/Power Systems, NaMPET has constituted Research award, consisting of one Cash Award of Rs 75,000/- and merit certificate.

Thematic area

Energy storage, efficient lighting, Electric vehicles, WBG devices, Energy- efficient equipment/appliances, Power Quality Solutions, Electric drives & its applications, Distributed generation & Renewable energy system and any other area related to Power Electronics.

Award Rules

  • PhD students having reputed journal publications/ patent registrations in the above thematic areas of NaMPET.
  • Eligibility: PhD students who is an Indian Citizen and completed a minimum period of three years or recently completed their PhD in India having reputed journal publications/ patent registrations in the thematic areas.
  • A PDF copy of the Journal publications/ patent registration records (file size less than 10MB) needs to be submitted online through www.nampet.in.
  • Online submission starts from 1st May 2016 and ends on 15th August 2016. ( PDF format only will be accepted.)
  • Candidates need to submit the following documents by post :
  • A letter certifying the title, authorship, date of the commencement/ date of submission of the thesis/ date of PhD
    awarded and signed by the Guide on institution’s letterhead/ Seal
  • Hard copy of journal publications/ patent registration details
  • A Curriculam Vitae as per the format (Download Format)
  • Last date of receipt of the above documents is on 31st August 2016
